Willow's Story

Willow Rae Walker, 71, of Huntsville, Texas passed away on August 19, 2016. On September 17, 1944 in High Bridge, New Jersey, she was the first born child of eight to William Ray Parrish and Julia Tara Parrish.

Willow will be remembered as a beloved educator to Richards ISD, where she served as a teacher and principal. She retired after 35 years of service.

In Willow's earlier years she enjoyed arts and crafts. She and her husband, Roy, attended Rodeos all over the United States and Canada. She loved traveling, and recently took a trip with her grandson, McCade, to Graceland and enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Cara, play volleyball.

Willow was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas.

Willow is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Roy Lee Walker; son Troy Lee Walker and wife Joann; grandson McCade Lee Walker; granddaughter Cara Madison Walker; sisters Mary Wilmont, Maureen Martin, Jo Anne Wells, Jeanne Minkler, Carolyn Presswood and Kathy Martin; brother Ray Parrish; and a host of loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents William Ray and Julia Parrish.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Darrell Wells and Mrs. Birdie Jenkins for her care of Willow during her last months.

Memorial donations may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1175 FM 1791, Huntsville, Texas 77340.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Lee Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas. All are welcome to join the family at a reception following the interment at The Old West Sandy School House.
