Angela Elaine (Patton) Brizendine Obituary

Angela Elaine (Patton) Brizendine, daughter of Nola Eugenia (Angier) Patton and Weldon Taylor Patton, was born on August 19, 1944, in Huntsville, Texas. She passed away peacefully in her hometown on July 15, 2022, with her husband and daughters by her side.

Angela was a 1962 graduate of Huntsville High School and a life-long member of Huntsville First United Methodist Church. She worked at Sam Houston State University for 20 years before she became a full-time homemaker.

We will remember her for her famous blackberry pies, her love of red geraniums, and her generous heart for children. She had a knack for sending thoughtful letters and care packages, wrapping beautiful Christmas presents, and collecting McDonald's Happy Meal toys, which she kept in her purse to share with children and parents wherever she went.

Angela (or "Mrs. B", as the kids called her) spent her last able years serving the children and educators of Huntsville Independent School District as a substitute teacher, often bringing home treasured drawings and notes from students she cared for.

She is loved and will be missed by her husband of 51 years, Gary; their son, Woody Johnson, and daughter-in-law, Chris (Sanders) Johnson; daughter, Courtney (Brizendine) Woodruff, son-in-law, Daniel Woodruff, and grandsons, Jacob, Logan, and Marshall Woodruff; her daughter, Cassy Brizendine; her brother, and many cherished friends.

In her final days on earth, she let us know she loved us and was ready to go to her heavenly home.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?" — John 14:1-2

You're home now, Mama.
