Bonnie Jo Patrick Obituary

Bonnie Jo (Darby) Patrick left this earth on February 23, 2025. Born in Great Falls, MT in 1945 as the second child of Joe and Vivian Darby. She spent her childhood years attending Emerson Elementary, Paris Gibson Jr. High, and Great Falls High School. While in high school, the family moved to Havre, MT where she earned her BS degree from Northern Montana College.

During her time in Havre, she met and married Darryl Patrick, in 1966. She and Darryl enjoyed traveling and photographing the world together as well as rooting on her beloved San Antonio Spurs.

Establishing their first home on the Patrick family farm, they would soon move to Seattle where Darryl would earn a degree in Art History at the University of Washington. Settled in Seattle, in 1967, Bonnie began teaching in Kirkland, WA at A.G. Bell Elementary School. While teaching, she attended local universities to advance her degree, and in 1968 she and Darryl were blessed with their first child, Camille.

Her husband's graduation would take them south to Huntsville, TX in 1971, where Darryl began teaching at Sam Houston State University, and Bonnie earned her Master's degree. Bonnie and Darryl were once again blessed with the birth of their son, Zack. She continued her educational endeavors as both teacher and administrator in Huntsville and then took on the role of owner and administrator of a private school, Bluebonnet Children's Academy. This was a dream fulfilled for Bonnie, as she felt she was able to create a challenging school environment for children with the support and involvement of families. Meanwhile, her son and daughter would earn their college degrees. Camille, following in the footsteps of her mom, earned a degree in early childhood education, and later a Masters degree in Catholic School Leadership. Zack would attend the US Air Force Academy, earning a degree in History-European Area Studies and a Masters degree in Public Management from the University of Maryland. Darryl also earned his PhD from North Texas University while in Huntsville.

In 2000, Bonnie and Darryl moved to Canyon Lake, TX where Bonnie would be employed by Comal Independent School District. She retired in 2007, after 40 years of service in education, as elementary school principal of Hoffmann Lane Elementary School.

Bonnie leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Darryl Patrick of Canyon Lake, her beloved daughter Camille, an educator, her husband, BJ Antes, a VP of Development at Jesuit College Preparatory School, in Dallas. She also leaves behind a beloved son, Zack, supply chain managing director at H-E-B, his wife, Andrea [formerly Andrea Cauthen of Huntsville], an elementary school principal in Comal ISD, and two beautiful grandsons, Kyle Christopher of Denver, CO and Alexander Blake of Dallas, TX. Anyone who knew Bonnie recognized her grandsons were the light of her life! Additionally, she leaves behind a treasured younger brother, Doug, and his wife Nadine, of Fairview, TX as well as a niece, Wendy Jo, and her husband, Chad, and 3 beautiful children in Monroe, WA.

Bonnie lived her life intent on improving education for children. She requested that donations be made to Communities in Schools of South Central Texas.

May angels carry her swiftly to heaven... 1945 - 2025
