Charles Edward Hoyt Jr
Charles Edward Hoyt Jr, 86, of Riverside, Texas departed this life Wednesday, October 23, 2019. He was born in Wheaton, Missouri October 6, 1933 to Charles E. Hoyt Sr and Willa F. Hughes. Charles lived in Wheaton until the age of 10, when his family moved to Roxanna, Illinois. It was there he met the love of his life, Helen Maria Pendergrass. They were married July 7, 1952 in Woodriver, Illinois.
Charles joined the Navy in 1952 as a Hospital Corpsman and retired as HMCM Charles E. Hoyt at Beeville, Texas in 1986. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the 1str Marine Division, FMF, 1966/67. After retiring from the Navy, Charles worked for the Texas Department of Corrections, Huntsville as Assistant Medical Administrator and fully retired about 1997.
Surviving are three children; Charles W. Hoyt (Sandy) of Bakersfield, California, Alisa A. Hoyt of Huntsville, Texas and Glenn A. Hoyt (Marilyn) of Bushnell, Illinois; two brothers, Robert W. Hoyt (Karen) of Bakersfield, California, Bruce D. Hoyt (Drew) Hanford, California and one sister, Janna G. LeClair, Saginaw, Michigan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother and a sister.
Charles was a Mason and an avid Amateur Radio operator, Call signs W5DU, WA6GOC.
There will be no memorial service. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, Missouri at a later date.
