Coralie A. Emmons
A bright and joyous light was extinguished when Dr. Coralie A. Emmons, forever known to us as "Corky" left our realm and passed over to the next on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Corky was born on June 10, 1930 to Alice and Corwin Emmons in Mt. Victory, OH. Corky attained a BA and a PhD from Ohio State University and was a professor at Sam Houston State University (SHSU), teaching for 34 years in the Department of Health and Kinesiology. Dr. Coralie Emmons became a pillar of the Physical Education Department serving and chairing on countless committees. Corky earned the coveted Excellence in Teaching Award in 1981 in recognition of her outstanding contributions in the field of education. She brought enthusiasm and joy to her classroom that endeared students to her for life.
Upon full retirement, she gave up her Texas ties to be close to family and make Wyoming her new home.
Our lives have been enriched for knowing Corky and a jubilant celebration of her life with family and friends will be held in Dubois this Fall.
