Diego Edward Esquuivel
Diego Edward Esquivel, 55 joined his heavenly father on August 8, 2019 after a valiant battle of kidney disease. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Diego was born to the late Edward and Noemi Esquivel, at Fort Bliss Military Hospital in El Paso, Texas on October 10, 1963. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Diego move to Huntsville to start his career at TDCJ. After 30 years of service, Diego retired and devoted his time to his family, volunteering and traveling.
The joy of Diego's life was his daughter Brisco Lynn Esquivel, 23. Later in life he married his love, Sandra Clifton on June 1, 2002. Diego became "Papi" and that was his world. His family grew to include Cliff and Jenna Luce and our three grandsons.
Diego had many passions, his church, the Houston Astros and Special Olympics. He shared these passions with his family and friends. Diego, Sandra and dear friend Pat Crane attended Astros opening day for 18 amazing years.
Diego cherished and appreciated the YMCA staff and how they served others. The YMCA students put a smile on his face and brought joy to his heart.
Diego is survived by his wife, Sandra and daughter Brisco. Cliff and Jenna Luce, and three grandsons, Cameron 6, Clayton 2, and Collin 5 months. Sister, Loida and husband Alberto and their children Erica and Alberto III. Beloved nieces and nephews Adam and Dustin Stelly, Alica and Joshua Esquivel, Jonathan, Damon, Lauren Rossett.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Diego Edward, Sr, and Noemi Rivera, bothers, Carlos and Jaime Renes Esquivel.
Diego will have a Lie in State at Sam Houston Funeral Home on August 12, 10:00am to 5:00pm. His service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 10:00am on August 13. Faith Lutheran Associate Pastor Jennings, University Height Baptist Church Minister to College will officiate the service. To honor Diego, he wished and donations to go to Special Olympics-Kourageous Kat, a Huntsville Special Team that Diego was instrumental in starting.
