Doris Lea White passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Doris was a resident of Huntsville, Texas at the time of her passing. She was born Doris Lea Stoker on March 11, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Cecil and James P. Stoker Sr.
Doris graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont as the valedictorian of her class and later graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont with a Bachelor of Education. Doris finished her formal education with a Master's in Education from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
First and foremost, Doris was a loving and devoted Mother. She also devoted over twenty years as an educator in various Texas school districts. Even in retirement she tutored and assisted in local schools.
Doris enjoyed many hobbies including reading, gardening, tennis, travelling, and especially playing bridge.
She is preceded in death by her brother James Pinkard Stoker, Jr. and her sister Cecil Ann Kinkle.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Joby Burgart, son-in-law Michael, her son, Steven Finch, daughter-in-law Arnesa, her youngest son Stuart Bradley Finch, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her older sister Betty Ruth Meriwether.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that any memorials be made to the Huntsville Public Library or the organization of your choice.
