Grace Elizabeth Hall Scelsi, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Huntsville, Texas, to the late James Benjamin and Valda Holland Hall. Grace had an immense passion for teaching. She dedicated countless hours and effort to the first and third grade elementary students that she taught. Grace was the Sunday School director and simultaneously taught second grade Sunday School for over 20 years. She was kind, generous, and at times stubborn, which created a safe space for all the students she taught and cared for. Outside of school, Grace tutored students who needed extra help with reading at her home. She also taught in the co-op home school program. Grace also was involved with the Church, where she spent time attending services, and even played the flute in the church orchestra. In her time in North Carolina, she and her husband attended First Baptist Church in Kernersville. Family was incredibly important to her, and she adored her three children, as well as her husband of almost 55 years, Howard. She will be missed immensely by those who had the opportunity to get to know her. Surviving is her husband, Howard Scelsi; children, Amy Gayle and husband Godfrey, David Scelsi and wife Alicia, and Daniel Scelsi; grandchildren, Jack Scelsi, Andrew Scelsi, Kathryn Scelsi, and Anabelle Gayle; as well as two siblings, James "Jim" Hall and Janice McCaffety. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Mt. Gur Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM on Friday, March 14, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse at PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
