Grover William
Bill Gibson left this world and met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face on August 11, 2019, after a brave 8 year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Bill was born in Houston on April 21, 1939, to Ellen Irene Waterfield Gibson and Gordon William Gibson. He lived with his parents in Denver Harbour Edition, Houston, until, at age six, his father went into full-time ministry and established Del Del Pentecostal Church of God in Channelview, Texas. He attended elementary and junior high, and because there was no high school in Channelview, Bill and his classmates were bussed to Baytown, where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1957.

Bill graduated from Southern Bible College, where he majored in Christian Education. He served in the U.S. Army from August, 1961, through October, 1964. Two of those years were with the 28th General Hospital, Croix Chapeau, France.
Bill's career included four years for Houston Natural Gas and fourteen years for Air Traffic Control (FAA), before surrendering to full-time ministry. He served with Pastor W.H. Yarborough in Westlake, Lousiana for three years before going to work for TDCJ in 1989. He retired as a Chaplain in 1997.

In July, 2002, Bill married Carolyn Curtis Herriage, and they shared a love that was inspiring and rare for 17 wonderful years. He was an active member of University Heights Baptist Church where he taught the Survivors Class, was active in MASCO (Mature Adults Serving Christ and Others) and loved working in the kitchen Wednesday nights, until failing health prevented active involvment.

He enjoyed serving as an active member of the Veterans Affairs Advisory Board for the Huntsville City Council from 2012 to 2016. He loved theater, and acted in several productions including Twelve Angry Men and Bell, Book and Candle, Bill was also one of the original members of the Buzzards, a group of local men who met for breakfast who enjoyed solving daily "issues."

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 7th at University Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m.,service at 11:00 with lunch following.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a nephew. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, daughter Robin Rogerson (Matthew), sons Timothy (Tina) and Brian (Becky), 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Stepdaughters include Susan Zavell (Peter) and Catherine (Chris) Delp, 5 step-grandsons, brother Rodney, one niece and 2 nephews, numerous friends and his dachshund Obie.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Creekside and Oasis Hospice for their kind and loving support during his brave struggle.

Please, in lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to Cure PSP, 1206York Rd, Suite L-4, Lutherville, MD 21093 or your favorite charity. Condolences to the family may be made at
