Herndon Jodie Murray
Herndon Jodie Murray passed away on February 4, 2020 at home. He was born February 15, 1940 in Houston, TX, to Herndon and Austine Murray. He graduated from Huntsville High School where he was a great football athlete. After high school, he attended Blinn College but decided to serve in the Army National Guard. In the service, Jodie was a part of the 49th Armored Division as a tank operator. After his time in the military, he worked many different jobs at TDCJ and SHSU and eventually became a Master Electrician. He loved working with his hands and seeing his projects come together. Jodie was a part of Riverside Baptist Church. He loved to volunteer as an electrician or wherever he was needed.

Jodie is preceded in death by his father, Herndon Murray; his mother, Austine Murray; his brother, Robert Murray; and a son, Paul Thomas.

Jodie is survived by his beautiful bride of 48 years, Paulette Murray; brother, Johnny Murray; and: sons, Jodie Parish Murray; daughter, Jean Maez and husband David; sons, Thomas Mitchell and fiancée Kathy; Rodney Mitchell and wife Christine. Grandchildren: Isabella Murray, Olivia Murray, Jeremiah Murray, Jodie Coronado and wife Chrystina, Josey Coronado and wife Taima, Sophia Maez, Kini Maez, Weston Mitchell and wife Katie, Cannon Mitchell and fiancée Ashley, Daniel Mitchell and wife Alma, Delta Mitchell, David Mitchell and wife Nicole, and Devin Mitchell. Great Grandchildren: Zoe Coronado, Oliver Sirota-Coronado, Elliot Sirota-Coronado, Aaron Mitchell, Amber Mitchell, Audrey Mitchell, CJ Mitchell and DJ Mitchell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place to honor the life of Jodie at Riverside Baptist Church on February 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

The family thanks everyone for their support and guidance. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Uganda Mission at Riverside Baptist Church, memo Uganda.
