Huntsville, Texas - Mrs. Jane Olive Praytor Mallery passed away on April 21, 2026. She was born on March 4, 1947 in Huntsville, Texas to Marion Elbert Praytor and Olive Ross Praytor. She was one of two children.


She graduated from Huntsville High School in 1965 and then went on to attend Sam Houston State University where she pledged Zeta Tau Alpha. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching in 1969.


She enjoyed travel, reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.


She is survived by her son, James Matthew Mallery and grandson Keemiwan Nowan Mallery of Flagstaff, Arizona, sisters-in-law Ann Mallery and Patricia Praytor; and nieces and nephews Cheryl Bell, Jeanne Foy, Lacey Cline, Penn Mallery, Marc Mallery, Dyan Mallery Klein, Kameron Praytor, and M.E. (Treb) Praytor III, and numerous cousins.


She is proceeded in death by her husband James Hardy Mallery and her brother M.E. (Bert) Praytor II.


A graveside memorial will be held on June 12, 2026 at 10:00am at the Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville. Jane had a love of books and the Mallery family is asking that in lieu of Flowers, a book be donated in her memory to the library of your choice.
