Joe Dee Baggerly Obituary
Huntsville, TX - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Dee Baggerly, who passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 67.
Joe was born on September 30, 1958, in Raton, New Mexico. He lived most of his adult life in Huntsville, Texas, where he built a life filled with laughter, creativity, and meaningful relationships. Joe was known for being the center of attention wherever he went. He always had a joke ready, a playful put-down, or a prank to keep everyone laughing—sometimes leaving people wondering whether he was joking or being serious. His lively spirit, flamboyant personality, and loving heart made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
Joe had a deep passion for wedding and event planning, baking, and traveling. As a licensed cosmetologist, he received his training from Charles and Sue's School of Hair Design in Bryan, Texas. Throughout his career at JC Penney Salon and later HeadQuarters Salon in Huntsville, Joe touched many lives. He styled hair for generations of women—from their very first haircut to their wedding day updos—creating lasting friendships along the way. To many, he was more than a stylist; he was a trusted friend and confidant.
Joe was a loving brother, uncle, and friend who cherished his family deeply and was especially known for being "Uncle Joe" to his many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his sister, Lachelle Lopez and her husband, Terry Lopez; by his sisters-in-law, Sylvia and Lisa, along with his beloved nieces and nephews: April, Monica, Jackie, Jessie, Amador, David, Bobby, Del, John, Dutchie-Boy, Jake, Abby, Gideon, and Zach; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews who will continue to carry his memory forward.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Royce Dale "Dutch" Baggerly and Jackie Marie Guthrie, and his brothers, Jackie Dale Baggerly, Roy Allen "Buddy" Baggerly, and Jessie Don Baggerly.
A memorial service will be held on April 19, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1016 Sam Houston Avenue, Huntsville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Joe's memory.
Joe will be remembered for his laughter, his bold personality, his loving heart, and the joy he brought into every room he entered. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
