John Kevin Butler Obituary
John Kevin Butler was born in Vidor, Texas on July 9, 1968. He passed from this life into the Eternal Heavens to be with his Lord and Savior on September 1, 2022, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 54 years old.
John was first and foremost a family man. His meaningful and lasting impact on his family and church family was immeasurable. John had the honor of playing the role of Jesus for 3 years at University Heights Baptist Church in the Christmas program called "From Cradle to Cross." This was a huge honor and close to John's heart. God gave the gift of music to John. He played and sang with a Bluegrass Gospel Band, as well as singing at his church. John had the kind of presence that filled the room with his sense of humor and sense of caring. John loved to pick on people, consider it a compliment if you were one of those people.
John was a laid-back, kind, honest and a gentle man, who never met a stranger. John had an artistic eye and was a craftsman. With those gifts he created knives and beautiful guitars from bare materials in his own workshop. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, he was known for his famous Gumbo and all his wild concoctions. John was a self-made man due to his hard work and can-do attitude. John's company Anchors & Davits was 1 of 2 in the nation certified in the field of inspecting and maintaining High Rise Scaffolding.
John is preceded in death by his father James Dewlan Butler better known as 'Pop", and niece Kaylan Avery. John leaves behind many treasured memories with his wife of 29 years, Kelley Butler.
The most precious gift he leaves behind is their 17-year-old daughter, Reese Butler, the love and pride of their lives. Also, John leaves behind his sister Jana Griffin and husband Jimmy, Brother James Dewlan "Jim" Butler, Jr., and wife Kinsey, Mother Loree Butler, Mother-in-law Judy Mancil, Father-in-law John Kenneith Mancil, brother-in-law Jamie Mancil and Breian Majko, sister-in-law Stacey Stuewe and husband Darren, nephews and nieces Jacob Griffin, James Earl, and Thalia Butler, Matthew and Ashley Butler, Taylor and Anthony Baker, Garrett, and Stephanie Butler, Kylr Ferry and Ian Ferry, Tallon Avery, Gabriel Gomez, Orian Gomez, Kindal Owens.
