Trinity - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judge Lyle Stubbs, 81, of Trinity, Texas on July 18, 2025, a beloved public servant, devoted family man, and pillar of the Trinity community.
Lyle dedicated his life to service in countless ways. He served as Mayor of Trinity from 1994 to 2014, and at the time of his passing, he was proudly serving as both the Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace and Municipal Judge for the City of Trinity. His passion for his community was unwavering.
A longtime member of the Trinity Fire Department, Lyle gave an incredible 57 years of service, including over 25 years as Chaplain and many years as Assistant Fire Chief. His calm presence, servant's heart, and spiritual guidance were a source of comfort to all.
Lyle opened Stubbs Chemical and Feed in 1988, and it quickly became more than a storeit was the heart of the town. Lyle was always ready with a story, a prayer, or just a listening ear. Even people just passing through knew to swing by and see Mr. Stubbsbecause no matter what you needed, you left feeling better than when you came in.
A talented musician and minister, Lyle released 10 country gospel albums between 1994 and 2009, always aiming to share his faith through his love of music. His single "I've Got Jesus Now" reached #1 in 2002, and in 2005, he was named Southern Gospel Male Entertainer of the Year. His heartfelt goal was always to touch as many lives as possible through his music.
Serving as a Freemason for over 40 years, he was a man who valued tradition, faith, and fellowship. Known for praying over anyone in need, he never hesitated to offer a kind word, a prayer, or a helping hand.
More than anything, Lyle loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the greatest joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Lyle was the kind of man whose presence made a room feel steadier and kinder.
He is now reunited in Heaven with many special peoplemost especially his beloved son, who passed away in 1994.
"To know him was to love him, and to be loved by him was one of life's greatest blessings."
