Huntsville, TX - Margaret Annajo "Jody" Lovell passed away peacefully at her home in Huntsville, Texas, on May 9, 2026.

Born in Dallas, Texas, to Huger Fred Martin and Julia Margaret Shaw, Jody lived a life marked by compassion, service, and deep devotion to both her family and her community. Though her given name was Margaret Annajo, she was known and loved by all as "Jody."

In 1955, she married the love of her life, Dr. Ross W. Lovell. Their marriage spanned 67 years, filled with adventure, partnership, and unwavering commitment, until his passing in 2022. Together, they built a life rich in love and shared experiences, including traveling the world and living for several years in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where Jody became fluent in Spanish—both spoken and written.

Jody was a devoted mother to Kenneth Lovell and Vicki Rakus and her husband Richard, and a proud grandmother to Jonathan Pothier and his wife Gretchen, and Rev. Krystal Morrell and her husband Nicholas. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Triniti and Christian Pothier. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her love into every generation.

A registered dietitian, Jody dedicated her professional life to improving the health and well-being of others. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from Western Illinois University and her Master's degree from Texas Woman's University. Over the course of her career, she spent more than 25 years consulting with long-term care institutions and serving as a nutrition educator for the WIC program, supporting pregnant and postpartum women, children, and other vulnerable populations. She was especially passionate about helping those facing food insecurity and health challenges, offering both her expertise and her compassion.

Her commitment to service extended far beyond her profession. For decades, Jody faithfully served the Good Shepherd Mission in Huntsville—welcoming those in need, assisting with food and clothing distribution, stocking shelves, conducting intakes, and serving on the board. She was known for doing whatever was needed, always with humility and care.

Jody was also a longtime and active member of First Christian Church in Huntsville. There, she shared her gifts in countless ways—singing in the choir, playing handbells, offering the beauty of harp music during special services, and crocheting prayer blankets for those in need of comfort. Her faith was not only something she believed, but also something she lived out daily through service and love.

She also served as Past President of the Texas State Nutrition Council and remained involved for many years, contributing her leadership and passion to the field she loved.

Jody will be remembered for her kindness, her servant's heart, her deep faith, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched—through her work, her church, her community, and her family.
