Robert George Rackley (Bob) Obituary

Spring, TX - Robert "Bob" George Rackley passed away in Spring TX and went to be with our Lord July 28, 2025. Bob was born in Midway TX May 21,1930 and spent most of his childhood in Trinity TX. He moved to Houston at the age of 17 and worked for Central Freight. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 serving in Wichita Falls and San Antonio TX, North Africa and Washington DC. When Bob left the military, he worked in civil service at Ellington AFB as a Jet Engine Mechanic. In 1966, he moved his family to Flour Bluff TX and he worked at NAS Corpus Christi as an Aircraft Mechanic, specifically rebuilding helicopters after combat.


He lived a full life of curiosity and service. He could master all mechanical skills and was still figuring out how to make things work well into his 90's. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always worked to make things better for them. Bob loved fishing, riding in the boat, tinkering in his garage and visiting with friends and family. After committing his life to Jesus in 1985, Bob enjoyed attending church and forming friendships with so many people in the Assembly of God family. In the 80's he owned and operated Bob's Auto Sales in Huntsville TX and met many new people that lived and worked in Huntsville. Bob enjoyed his retirement on his land in Huntsville. In his 90's, Bob shared stories and prayers with new friends at The Conservatory in Spring TX.


Bob is preceded in death by his mother and father, Georgie Miller and Oliver Rackley, siblings Jesse Avon Rackley, Dorothy Meyers, Blanche Seminary, Charles Rackley.


Bob is survived by his wife of 72 years, June LaDelle Rackley, whom he met on a blind date in Houston TX. He is also survived by his children Robin Stevens and her husband Dennis, Russell Rackley and his wife Cindy and Renee Luke and her husband Peter. Bob is survived by grandchildren Robert Stevens, Amber Rackley, Rick Stevens, Rachel Hempel, Randa Abbott and Lucas Rackley. He is survived by 7 great grandchildren; Lexus Manning, Madyson Valois, Reilly McCarty, Kaydence Hempel, Rylynn McCarty, Josiah Stevens and Audrey Stevens.


Bob's family and friends will gather later this month to share memories and celebrate his life.
